A lil NOLA in LA

Couldn’t make it Nawlins’ for Fat Tuesday?

No need to fret, there are some great places in and around Downtown LA sure to keep the party going.

For Lunch

The Little Jewel of New Orleans is serving up a Mardi Gras Creole Special until they sell out.

Whats in the special you ask? The 3 portion hot plate comes with Spicy New Orleans style Jambalaya with Roasted Corn Garnish, Shrimp and Crawfish Etoufee, with Seafood Gumbo.

Little Jewel of New Orleans:

207 Ord St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

After Hours

When the work day is done, there are two options for night time Mardi Gras fun. (Poet in the house)

The Little Easy is celebrating Fat Tuesday with an all- day happy hour which leads up to Curtis Parry’s Jazz Cartel playing the tunes from 5pm-8pm and DJ Antiq from 9pm-Close.

Little Easy:

216 W 5th St, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Preux and Proper:

840 S. Spring St, Los Angeles CA 90014

Preux and Proper is also holding a celebration for those that enjoy a more sit down experience, its sure to be a night to remember. Reservations are recommended.

Wherever you land for Mardi Gras, I hope you have fun doing so. More importantly, I hope you add Mardi Gras to your bucket list- A visit to New Orleans, should be required for all. One trip will convince you, Im sure.

Before I head out, Ill leave you with a quote from the great Mark Twain.

“It has been said that a Scotchman has not seen the world until he has seen Edinburgh; and I think that I may say that an American has not seen the United States until he has seen Mardi-Gras in New Orleans.” — Mark Twain
